Topically applied retinol needs to be converted to retinoic acid in the skin before it exerts its anti-aging effects, whereas HPR binds directly to one of the known retinoid receptors.
HPR does not bind to the receptor associated with side effects such as irritation and scaling. This allows us to “boost” the retinol efficacy by supplementing with HPR for more efficacy without increased irritation.
We recommend Retinol + HPR for anyone concerned about signs of aging such as lines, wrinkles and uneven color or spots.
The ceramides that we have in our formula help to reinforce the skin's natural moisture barrier as the skin adapts to the beneficial effects of Retinol + HPR.
The phytoceramides that we use are specifically chosen to integrate efficiently into the skin's moisture barrier.
People should start using Retinol + HPR as soon as they start to notice signs of aging and/or sun damage.
Retinol + HPR is gentle enough to be used twice a day (morning and night), but if you are only applying it once, we recommend applying just before bedtime (under your moisturiser).
Retinol + HPR at the same time as an AHA exfoliant since the latter can make the skin more sensitive to UV and easily irritated. The cream and capsules can be used together, and either one is gentle enough for first time users.
